Spokane Police said just before 11:00 Thursday night, the Spokane Police Patrol Anti-Crime Team (PACT), acting on investigative information involving a wanted fugitive who has known to be armed in the past, responded to a house in the 2100 block of east Cataldo.

Around midnight, officers saw the man they were looking for run into the home. Police said they took a different man into custody who was standing in front of the house, armed with a handgun.

Officers have the home surrounded and are asking neighbors within the block to shelter in place.

Police are working towards a peaceful ending. Resources from SWAT and Hostage Negotiation teams are trying to work with the suspect. It is unconfirmed if the suspect is alone in the home.

Crestline is closed in both directions from Boone to Broadway and Cataldo is closed in both directions from Stone to Napa. These are primarily residential streets, so police do not expect this to have a significant impact on the morning commute. They do ask that drivers avoid the area.
