IPAC holds Avalanche preparedness classes

SANDPOINT, Idaho - The Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center (IPAC) will be offering three Avalanche Fundamentals, Level 1 courses this winter.

These classes teach students about avalanche assessment tools, forecasting and emergency preparedness.

On November 2, IPAC will be hosting a free avalanche awareness session at the Gonzaga University Hemmingson Center. Here people can learn basics about avalanche safety and win free gear donated by local winter sports vendors.

In addition to offering avalanche awareness courses, the Avalanche Center also forecasts avalanche conditions in Idaho Panhandle National Forests.
