POTLATCH, Idaho - At around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, a semi truck hauling ten thousand pounds of explosives crashed on US Highway 95 near Potlatch, Idaho shutting down the highway.
Idaho State Police responded, closed the area and set up a detour.
The Latah County Sheriff's Office reported that the semi crashed just north of the Potlatch “Y”.
A 2017 Peterbuilt Tractor being driven by a 38-year-old David L. Sturgill of Blanchard, Idaho was traveling southbound when he went off the east shoulder. The semi came to rest on its side and was found to be transporting hazardous materials.
The driver of the semi was not hurt.
An explosives response team arrived on scene and moved the hazardous material to another truck.
The highway opened again at around 6:30 a.m.
