SPOKANE VALLEY - A Spokane junior baseball team needs your help to find an autographed baseball stolen from their concession stand earlier this week.
With the American Legion State Tournament in town, the University High School summer league baseball team had been selling raffle tickets all week for a chance to win a baseball signed by CC Sabathia, starting pitcher for the Yankees.
"Yeah, that ball was, that CC Sabathia ball was important to all of us, a lot of people wanted that ball," said Kyle Bush, a pitcher for U High
On Thursday, someone broke into the concession stand at the U High baseball field and stole the prized ball and $150 worth of soda, candy and ice cream.
"I would just like to say you need to return the baseball, you need to bring it back," said Lisa Garza, a U High team mom
Money from the raffle and concession stand sales help provide scholarships for summer league.
Without the extra help, some players couldn't afford to participate
"Everything here, we are a non-profit organization and our concession stand raises $10,000 to $20,000 a season," she said
When Garza called KXLY to share her story, the promotions and sports departments donated several pieces of Mariner's memorabilia.
"Thank you, thank you so much," said Garza
Those items, including two autographed baseballs will now be raffled off after the championship game on Sunday.
A reward is now being offered for information leading to an arrest. If you have any information about the stolen baseball call Crime Check at 456-2233.
