POST FALLS -

Investigators are trying to determine why a driver lost control in Post Falls this morning and smashed into two other vehicles.

The crash happened just after nine this morning at the intersection of Henry and Mullan. Police say a Jeep Cherokee was heading west on Mullan and ran a red light at the Idaho Road intersection. The Cherokee hit one car, then continued speeding down Mullan. It crossed the center line and slammed into a Ford Contour. The Cherokee ended up flipping on its top.

Two people in the Cherokee and one in the Contour were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Police are still trying to figure out why it happened, but some witness reports indicate the two people in the Cherokee may have been arguing before the crash.

"The preliminary statements are wrong lane of travel, high rate of speed and it appeared they were arguing or talking - we're not real sure," said Post Falls Police Officer Ian Johnson.

The intersection was closed for several hours Friday morning, as police investigated the crash.
