Police: Girlfriend poisoned with Visine
Boyfriend admitted to putting drops in drink after fight
A California man has been arrested after police say he tried to poison his girlfriend by putting Visine eye drops in her drink.
Shayne Carpenter, a 27-year-old mechanic, faces poisoning and domestic violence charges following his arrest in Grass Valley, Calif., late last week, ABC News reported.
According to police, Carpenter put the drops in his girlfriend's drink after they had argued.
The woman fell ill, and called police after she saw suspicious text messages on his phone, UPI reported.
Carpenter admitted to the crime in a phone call with his girlfriend that was arranged by police, according to ABC News.
The woman had to be hospitalized, but has since made a full recovery.
