A Cheney business owner was hit and killed in front of his flower shop Sunday night. Jim Dahl, 61, was crossing 1st Avenue in downtown Cheney when a car hit him just before 11 p.m.
Jim?s daughter said Monday that her father was packing up that camper and preparing for a camping trip that was to begin Monday. About 10:45 he crossed the road to go home to his apartment when he was hit within a few feet of his driveway.
Paramedics transported Dahl to Sacred Heart Medical Center where he passed away early Monday morning.
Washington State Patrol troopers say the driver of the car that hit Dahl is 47-year-old William Knight of Cheney. This wasn?t the first time Knight hit someone while driving.
On April 15 bicyclist Ted Chauvin says Knight hit him while he was riding his bike several miles outside of Cheney. Chauvin suffered a broken leg, arm and missed five weeks of work after the crash.
?The first thought that went through my head is you've got to be kidding me that this happened again. It was just too unbelievable that same guy, same thing happens again,? Chauvin said.
Knight did not face charges for hitting Chauvin.
In Cheney at Chet?s Flowers, Jim Dahl?s shop, the store was closed Monday with a sign out front that reads ?We Love You Jim.?
Knight did not answer calls requesting comment on this story.
