Washington's Medical Quality Assurance Commission has withdrawn its statement of charges against Spokane dermatologist William Werschler.
Last December the agency accused Dr. Werschler of illegally using and dispensing controlled substances. Investigators claimed Werschler was not keeping accurate records about how the pain killers were used and he was medicating himself.
However now the commission has decided that they can't prove those allegations and many of the accusations may have been the result of a failed marriage and disgruntled employees.
Werschler has agreed to keep better records and have his practice audited for the next two years.
