SPOKANE, Wash. -

Sacred Heart Medical Center is reporting that its water supply has been cleaned out and is free of Legionella bacteria.

Samples taken from the water supply on May 5 after it was treated for the bacteria have turned out negative. Those results were shared with the Spokane Regional Health District, the state Department of Health and the CDC.

The hospital has lifted water restrictions that were put in place after the bacteria was discovered in Sacred heart's water supply. It has also begun taking steps, based on recommendations from the CDC, to develop and implement a long-term plan to prevent Legionella bacteria from developing in the hospital water supply again.
