SPOKANE -

The Spokane Police Bomb Squad was called to the home of Federal Judge Robert Whaley Friday morning after a suspicious package was found on his front porch.

Judge Whaley called police shortly before 8 a.m. to report the package and police rushed to his home on the South Hill.

Officers shut off a portion of 24th and Napa and evacuated homes nearby. The bomb squad moved in and discovered it was not an explosive device, rather a FedEx package that had been dropped off by Judge Whaley's housekeeper.

The scene was cleared and the bomb scare called off.

Government officialst have been on high alert since late March, when an actual IED was found outside the Federal Building in Spokane.
