WSP Trooper Injured In Crash With Semi-Truck

RITZVILLE, WA -- A Washington State Trooper had to be airlifted to the hospital after being rear ended by a semi-truck Sunday evening.
The crash happened just before 6 p.m. Sunday on US 395, about three miles south of Ritzville.The trooper was performing a traffic stop in the shoulder of northbound 395 when a semi-truck rear ended the patrol car sending the car into a ditch. The semi then crashed through the median seperating the south and northbound lanes and stopped in the lane closest to the median.The trooper was transported by ground to Ritzville where MedStar airlifted him to a Spokane hospital, WSP Trooper Troy Briggs said. Trooper Briggs says the injured trooped has no life-threatening injuries while the truck driver sustained minor injuries.One lane of both southbound and northbound sides of Highway 395 was temporarily closed for the crash investigation.
