Police say a man suspected of killing three people in a shooting in western Washington may have stopped in Spokane Saturday afternoon.

Booth is wanted in connection with a shooting at a home in Salkum, Washington around 2 a.m. Saturday, that left three people dead and a fourth person in critical condition.

Lewis County Sheriff's Office confirms that John Allen Booth Jr. made a cell phone call from Spokane around noon on Saturday. The call was made to a friend in Lewis County, and the friend confirmed to investigators that the person who called was Booth.

Spokane Police say the Lewis County Sheriff's Office told them about the call at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Investigators said Booth likely made the call from a gas station at 3rd and Monroe in downtown Spokane.

Officers searched the area around the gas station but found no sign of Booth or the car investigators believe he's driving, a 1988 blue Dodge Diplomat.

Spokane Police Officer Jennifer DeRuwe said Booth was reportedly seen at about 2:30 p.m. at the gas station. DeRuwe added that her office had no reason to believe Booth was still in the Spokane area.

The Idaho State Police said they learned that Booth was possibly heading their direction and alerted Post Falls Police before 2:00 Saturday afternoon.

Post Falls Police say they entered the license plate from Booth's Dodge Diplomat into the database of their license plate scanning system, which records plates as cars pass a pair of cameras positioned on Interstate 90. As of 5:00 Saturday evening, the particular plate registered to Booth's vehicle had not recorded.

Investigators think Booth may have shot the four people as part of a collection for a drug debt.

Police say he is considered armed and extremely dangerous. Anyone who sees Booth should call 911 immediately.
