Post Falls seeks input on Ross Point Park

Ross Point Park is one of Post Falls’ best kept secrets and now the city is asking the community to weigh-in on how to fix up the park.

The 2.2 acre park sits on the Spokane River south of Maplewood Avenue just east of the Riverside Harbor subdivision. There's not much to this rustic park besides a porta-potty and garbage can.

The City of Post Falls says Ross Point Park attracts fishing enthusiasts and swimmers who enjoy access to the Spokane River in an area where most of the waterfront access has been privatized.

As part of an agreement with the Bureau of Land Management, Post Falls is required to maintain and improve the site. A few years ago voters rejected building a boat launch or dock in the area.

Now the city is asking for public comment again on how best to fix up the park with the goal of controlling erosion and making the park more user-friendly.

"We recognize we do need to do something. It's heavily used now and you've got to, for lack of a better word, harden the site,” Dave Fair, director of the Post Falls Parks and Recreation Department, said.
