An autopsy on the diver who was found unresponsive off the shore of the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course earlier this week confirmed the man drowned.

Mike McCullough, 31, of Rexburg drowned in the waters near the floating green Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say the autopsy confirmed that he drowned. When he was pulled out of the water rescuers cut away his weight belt, air tank and a large basket of golf balls which he had been collecting.

Once his gear was recovered from the lake further investigation revealed there was no air left in his tank.

McCullough was on his first day working as a diver for local contractor Bob Hamilton. He was a certified diver though family members say he had not been diving since 2007.
