SPOKANE -- The motto at Camp Dart-Lo is rain or shine camp must go on.

Monday was the first day of summer camp and kids were excited.

"The first day is always kind of crazy," Camp Counselor Julie Gilbertz said.

This year all the craziness was contained inside instead of outside and camp leaders who have to find away for the kids to channel their first day excitement.

"This isn't the typical first day of summer here," Gilbertz said.

Inside they play games and make crafts but all kids want to do is go outside.

"We all wish the rain would just go away so we go and have fun," camper Bradi Hester said.

Kids like Bradi just want to be outside and you can't blame them; after all it is the first day of summer.

"It feels like its closer to fall," Bradi said.

Eventually the campers run out of stuff to do inside so they bundle up and head outside into the rain. All the kids and counselors at Camp Dart-Lo hope the second day of summer brings more summer like weather.
