A federal grand jury has indicted a former northern Idaho woman on bankruptcy fraud charges, saying she schemed to bilk her creditors out of thousands of dollars.

Vicki Jean Fehrs, who has since moved from her home in Mullan, Idaho, was indicted on four counts of bankruptcy fraud.

According to the indictment, Fehrs committed a scheme to defraud creditors and the bankruptcy trustee by transferring a house she owned in Mullan to her teenage son to protect it, while discharging over $500,000 in unsecured debt.

The grand jury also concluded that the 55-year-old Fehrs gave false statements about her house under oath and concealed $47,995 from its sale from the bankruptcy trustee and creditors.

Fehrs is due to make an appearance in U.S. District Court in Coeur d'Alene on July 20. If found guilty, she faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
