A man showed his displeasure over a noise complaint by firing several shots into an apartment Saturday night, narrowly missing a bed where a three-year-old was sleeping.

The Spokane Valley Police Department reports that officers were called to the apartment located at 15917 E. Sprague by a person who reported that someone had shot at his apartment from the parking lot below.

The man said he had been confronted by two other individuals who asked why he had complained by the noise coming from a neighboring apartment. One of the men in the confrontation said he could “go crazy” at any moment and then began reaching into the waistband on his pants.

Retreating back to his apartment the man heard the slide of a pistol being worked as he closed his door followed by two shots being fired into his apartment.

One of the bullets was fired into a bedroom where the man’s three-year-old daughter was sleeping in bed, the bullet striking a metal bed post and then falling onto the child’s blankets.

When police arrived at the apartments Joe and the other person who had been with him had left, but they found two shell casings on the ground.

The woman who lived in the neighboring apartment that the noise call was made against confirmed that she didn’t know Joe all that well but that she had told him the victim had called the police about excessive noise coming from her apartment.

Joe is described as a white man between 25 and 29-years-old, six feet tall and thin. He was clean shaven and possibly left-handed as that was the hand he used to fire a shot into the air. He wore a white baseball cap with a dark logo, a white zippered and hooded sweatshirt with a black logo, and dark-colored pants. He had tattoos on his neck, possibly on the left side, of a spiders’ web with cursive writing.

Joe’s companion was a white man in his 20’s who was about 5’10” tall and had a thin build. He had a dark complexion with short brown hair and a mustache. He wore a colored, zippered hoodie and dark jeans.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
