Police track down chase suspects

STATELINE, ID. -- Troopers with the Idaho State Police say they've tracked down all the suspects from an earlier high-speed chase near Stateline.
blog comments powered by DisqusThe incident began along Highway 95 about seven miles south of Couer d’Alene when a law enforcement officer attempted to pull over a driver who was speeding and driving recklessly.The driver refused to pull over and sped away, accelerating to speeds up to 100 miles an hour with police in pursuit."Beer cans were coming out of the windows during the chase and there are still beer cans in the vehicle," said Sgt. Jonelle Greear with Idaho State Police.The chase ended up on Interstate 90 where the driver crossed the state line into Washington, turned around and headed back into Idaho."They took the back roads up River Drive, East Riverview Drive, West Riverview, then came into Washington on Appleway and traveled on Appleway into Liberty Lake," said Sgt.Greear.Spike strips were deployed and the suspects pulled off the road just across the state line into Idaho. All four of the suspects fled the vehicle but authorities were able to apprehend three of the four.Police began an extensive search for the fourth suspect along the Spokane River, south of the interstate. That person was found and taken into custody by police just hours after the chase ended.In all, seven agencies, including the U.S. Marshals helped bring the chase to an end."A lot of resources were expended tonight, the good thing is all our agencies worked so well together," said Sgt. Greear.One of the female suspects had to be taken to Kootenai Medical Center after she suffered a bite wound from a police dog. Police say all the suspects are teenagers from the Worley, Idaho area.
