COLTON, WA -- The small community of Colton, Washington is in shock over the death of their high school science teacher. Whitman County Sheriff Brett Myers says Glenn Voshell, 45, died when he fell from a hill while hunting.Voshell and his black lab left early Saturday morning to go hunting just outside the town of Colton, near the Snake River. When Voshell didn’t return Saturday night, a search was launched and it ended Monday morning when they found his body.Search crews found Voshell’s body just a mile and a half from where they found his truck. Friends and family say he knew the area like the back of his hand, but It started to snow and that made the rough terrain even more dangerous.Sunday night, Kirsi Voshell, a self-proclaimed daddy’s girl, was holding on to hope that her dad would be found alive, but deep down her fear that something awful had happened was growing.

He says it looks like he slipped and fell about 400 feet.“He has been hunting this are for over 15 years and he just lost his footing,” Myers said. “It’s a pretty rugged Terrain once you get up over the hills here your right into some rock bluffs.”The rugged terrain combined by snowy weather proved to be a lethal combination.“I don’t think his experience means you can’t have an accident, this can happen to anyone,” Myers said.It took crews most of Monday to get Voshell's body out of the deep crevasse where it was found. His dog was found in the same area and is said to be doing fine.
