Spokane County Fire crews say fire destroyed a mobile home along Interstate 90 near the airport on Sunday.

The fire started at about 11:00 a.m. Sunday when neighbors reported smoke coming from a mobile home located in the 4300 block of S. Cheatham Road on the West Plains.

When crews arrived on scene they saw smoke and flames coming from the front of a mobile home in the complex. Crews immediately began to knock down the fire which quickly spread throughout the structure.

Damage from the fire was so bad that it was determined the home was a total loss. The American Red Cross said the family of five that lived in the mobile home will be staying with friends in the meantime.

Firefighters say the family was not at home when the fire started. The fire's cause is still under investigation.
