One person dead in motorcycle crash

SPOKANE -- Spokane County Sheriff deputies say a motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Market Street a quarter-mile south of Hawthorne.

Eyewitnesses say that the driver of the car was heading northbound on Market while the motorcyclist was southbound.According to investigators, 51-year-old Michael Wayne Fraser was speeding on an older model motorcycle south on Market just after 5:00 on Wednesday when he lost control of the motorcycle and slid about 200 feet, crossing the center line and slamming into an oncoming car.Sheriff deputies say the driver of the car slammed on his brakes when he saw the motorcycle sliding toward him, almost coming to a complete stop. Investigators say the motorcyclist slid straight into the front of the car, dying instantly when he became pinned under the car.Fraser, of Grapeview, Washington, was said to have a Ghost Riders Motorcycle Club tattoo on his arm.Deputies said the driver of the car and his daughters riding in the back seat were not injured.
