2013 Spokane murder back in national spotlight

An episode of Dateline will focus on the murder of Spokane's Douglas Carlile.

Carlile, 63, was shot and killed at his South Hill home on Dec. 15, 2013. The month-long search for his killers stretched all the way to the oil fields of North Dakota.

Carlile was murdered by Timothy Suckow, 52. Suckow, driven to Carlile's home by Robby Wahrer and Lazaro Pesina, entered the house, confronted Carlile, and shot him multiple times.

Months after Carlile's death, six men were indicted for their roles in the murder.

The six defendants, including mastermind James Henrikson, all originally pleaded not guilty to a battery of charges, including murder for hire, conspiracy to commit murder for hire and solicitation to commit murder for hire in the killing of Carlile, a business partner of Henrikson's.

Henrikson was sentenced to life in prison in federal court in May.
