The IRS scandal is no longer just a political story it's now a criminal investigation.

Congress and the FBI both want know how IRS agents could have improperly targeted Tea Party and other conservative groups for extra scrutiny on their applications for tax exempt status.

The agency's inspector general blames ineffective IRS management and overly aggressive agents.

President Obama read the inspector general's report last night and called the IRS actions intolerable and inexcusable.

In their defense, the IRS said it is "required by law to determine if organizations are engaging in a legally permissible level of political activity."

A new Rasmussen Reports poll says 57% of Americans think the investigations were politically motivated and those involved should be severely punished.

What are your thoughts?  Politically motivated and should the people involved face criminal charges?
