He says he's good at “stuff.”
This week's Wednesday's Child is sporty and inquisitive.
He's also expressive, as you'll see during this trip we took to the Portland Zoo.
Andrew is not a big fan of creepy, crawly things. And he's not afraid to show it.
He's in the fourth grade, and is 9 years old, with a summer birthday.
Andrew says school is going fine, and girls aren't really a distraction.
At least currently, he doesn't have a girlfriend.
Andrew would much rather get involved in activities.
“I like to play sports like basketball, football, and baseball, not really soccer.”
He enjoys superhero movies and playing video games, but he'd prefer being outside doing things, and would like a family who likes the same things.
Andrew thinks country living is the life for him.
“I want to be on a farm with horses I can ride and stuff with a big house,” he said.
He'd like that big house to be filled with a mom and dad and a couple of siblings.
When they're home, Andrew would love to have his own room, that he would decorate.
“Maybe half the room pink...then blue.”
Most of us can't imagine what it would be like to be bounced around in foster care, then to finally have a family to offer love and stability.
“I at least want to be in a home I can stay in forever,” he said.
It's what Andrew deserves. What every child deserves.
