Necropolis by the Bay -- The dead outnumber the living 900 to 1 in Colma, Calif., outside San Francisco. It unofficially became San Fran's necropolis in 1900 after land became so scarce that the City Council decided to remove all its dead and build on the decommissioned cemeteries. Tours of the city's many cemeteries are available.
