Alec Baldwin on '30 Rock's' 'low point'

Nearly every "30 Rock" fan has an opinion on exactly where the Emmy-winning comedy began to lose its luster, and for Alec Baldwin that moment came in season five.

"It was the low point," he told Rolling Stone in its new issue, though he hastens to add that "even anemic '30 Rock' writing is still better than everybody else's writing."

Nonetheless, season five had Baldwin thinking of an escape route - although he quickly realized that low points don't always last forever.

"So season five ends, and I'm saying 'Next year, I'm done,'" he told RS. "Then I come back, and season six is really good, we all had fun again." After that, he was ready to stay for seasons nine, 10 and 11.

Fey, meanwhile, was said to be "completely committed to the show," as executive producer Lorne Michaels put it in 2011, and by the end Baldwin noted it was starting to wear on the writer/producer/star.

"(T)his year was the first time she came in and laid down on the couch on set, and you could tell, she's a mom," Baldwin said. "She's f****** wiped out."

Wiped out she may be, but the experience has been worth it, Fey told CNN at the "30 Rock" finale wrap party in December.

"I'm definitely really spoiled after this experience because I got to kind of have the final say on almost everything," she said. "But I had all of these incredibly talented people doing the work with me ... it's a dream to have all these great ideas and great talent in front of you."
