November 23: Larry Hagman dies at 81Larry Hagman, who played scheming oil baron J.R. Ewing on TV's long-running soap opera "Dallas" died due to complications from his battle with cancer. "Larry was back in his beloved hometown of Dallas, re-enacting the iconic role he loved the most", his family said in a statement. "Larry's family and closest friends had joined him in Dallas for the Thanksgiving holiday." Hagman, who also starred in the sitcom "I Dream of Jeannie," was diagnosed in 1992 with cirrhosis of the liver and acknowledged that he had drank heavily for years.
