KXLY4 Executive Producer
Melissa Luck is the Executive Producer and News Content Manager at KXLY4. In addition to managing day-to-day newsroom operations, she also reports daily news and special reports when she can.
Melissa came to KXLY in 2002 as a General Assignment Reporter. She's covered crimes, features and sports, including following the Seahawks to Super Bowl XL in Detroit. She won a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for her continuing coverage of the Joseph Duncan child murder case.
Melissa grew up in Great Falls, Montana and is a proud graduate of Marquette University. She has worked in newsrooms in Tri-Cities, Milwaukee and Washington, DC. She's also a second-generation reporter; her dad was a sports and news reporter and Melissa's TV debut came just a few hours after she was born.
Melissa is passionate about journalists' rights. She prides herself on research and writing and won her second Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for writing in 2007. She's most proud of her recent reports on Spokane native and former WSU football player Steve Gleason, who is battling ALS. Melissa produced a half-hour special on Gleason's fight and the challenges facing other ALS patients in our community. Her work inspired Kxly viewers to donate thousands of dollars to the fight against ALS.
You may know her voice better than her face; Melissa is a longtime member of the Panel of Women, Thursday mornings with Dave, Ken and Molly on 92.9 ZZU.
Melissa is married to Good Morning Northwest anchor Derek Deis. In their time away from TV, they love spending time with their sons Dylan and Danny and their shelter rescue dogs Chewy and Roxie. Melissa is a proud member of the Spokane River Rowing Association. You can follow her on Twitter @MelissaKXLY4
