Good Morning Northwest Anchor
Derek Deis, who has lived in Eastern Washington his entire life, anchors Good Morning Northwest with Robyn Nance and Mark Peterson Monday through Friday.
Previously, Derek served as Sports Director, having joined the KXLY4 News family in June of 2009 after nearly five years as a sports anchor/reporter for KHQ-TV. He won an Emmy award for sports reporting in 2009.
A Moses Lake native and graduate of Washington State University's Edward R. Murrow School of Communication, Derek began his broadcasting career at KNDU-TV in the Tri-Cities in 1999. He also worked at KNDO-TV in Yakima for four years, before coming to the Lilac City.
Derek produces a weekly feature on KXLY4 News called Made in the Northwest, which highlights local manufacturing companies in our area. If your company manufactures a product locally and creates local jobs, Derek would love to hear from you.
Derek is also a radio host for the Cougar Radio Network. He hosts pregame and postgame shows for Washington State football, hosts Cougar Calls with Bill Moos each week throughout the athletic year and occasionally fills in calling play-by-play for WSU basketball and baseball.
Derek and his wife, Melissa, who also works for KXLY4, have two sons, Dylan and Danny, and two dogs, Chewy and Roxie. He coaches his sons' youth soccer and basketball teams. Derek is a diehard Cougars and Seahawks fan who loves watching live sporting events, playing basketball, golfing and snowboarding. He also dreams of one day becoming a competitive eater.
