Derek Deis anchors Good Morning Northwest with Robyn Nance and Mark Peterson Monday through Friday.

Previously Derek served as Sports Director, having joined the KXLY 4 family in June of 2009 after nearly five years as a sports anchor/reporter for KHQ-TV.

A Moses Lake native and graduate of Washington State's Edward R. Murrow School of Communication, Derek began his broadcasting career at KNDU-TV in the Tri-Cities in 1999. He also worked at KNDO-TV in Yakima, before coming to the Lilac City.

Derek is intensely loyal to the Cougars and is a lifelong fan of the Seahawks (Steve Largent was his hero growing up), Mariners and Sonics (it still hurts), which makes his job even more enjoyable. He has a deep interest in all of our local teams, having growing up rooting for them since childhood. His career highlights include covering the Cougs in the 2003 Rose Bowl, the 2001 MLB All-Star game in Seattle, meeting Sugar Ray Leonard and all of the inspirational athletes he's done stories on in the past.

When he's not covering sports, Derek enjoys spending time with his wife Melissa, his son Dylan and their dogs Chewy and Roxie. He loves watching live sporting events, playing basketball, golf (it's not pretty) and snowboarding. Derek is also a movie buff and dreams of one day becoming a competitive eater.
